Quebec's Environment Ministry issued a slap on the wrist to Hydro-Quebec after inspections revealed the Crown Corporation was violating the provinces Environment Quality Act.
In a statement released by the Environment Minister, Benoit Charette said the utility and two contractors were sent 14 statements of offense related to the construction of a transmission line between the Grand-Brûlé substation in Mont-Tremblant and Saint-Sauveur in the Laurentians.
The Ministry has ordered Hydro-Quebec to submit a draft Sediment Control and Wetland and Water Rehabilitation Plan within 30 days. A detailed plan must be submitted by June 30, 2019. As of December 1, 2019, the Crown Corporation must submit an annual follow-up reports monitoring the areas targeted by the rehabilitation plan.
Hydro-Quebec was also fined $15,000.
