Hydro-Québec has shelved a plan to allow clients to pay their electricity bill with a credit card.
The decision came after customers were told their would be an extra cost.
Earlier this year the utility had announced plans to introduce credit card payment because of the results of a client survey.
But, after issuing a call for tenders to find a credit card processing provider, Hydro was told there would be a 2% charge added to each invoice.
A spokesman tells La Presse that a second survey pointing out the extra fee showed that less than 3% of Hydro's clients would be interested in paying their bill with a credit card.
