It started as a three alarm blaze around 5:20am Saturday morning at 1234 Bishop St., which is also the home to the popular Irish Embassy Pub and Grill. The fire quickly grew into a five-alarm inferno. The sound of firetruck sirens could be heard throughout downtown as more crews raced to resond.
Roughly 120 firefighters were sent to the scene and fire department spokesperson, Danny Ciavaglia, said it also spread to an adjacent building.
"I don't have the number of people that were evacuated, but on arrival the firefighters did confirm that the building was evacuated and there were no injuries to report," said Ciavaglia
