A homeless man has been charged in an apparently random stabbing at a B-C high school that left a 13-year-old girl dead and her 14-year-old friend in hospital.
Sergeant Jennifer Pound of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says 21-year-old Gabriel Klein is charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault in the attack that took place in yesterday in Abbotsford, B-C.
She says Klein does not appear to have connections to the teens, the school or the community of Abbotsford.
Police and school district officials say a barefoot man walked into the school and attacked two girls before staff confronted and restrained him.
Pound says little is known about Klein, other than that he does not appear to have a criminal record and has no fixed address.
She says the lack of information makes it difficult to determine a possible motive for the attack and police are asking for anyone who knows the suspect to come forward.
