The man who died in a tragic fall on Mount Royal has been identified as a surgeon at Ste-Justine Hospital.
"My dear friend Shreyas Roy accidentally and tragically died this past weekend," one friend wrote on Facebook. "No words can grasp the loss of this brilliant, generous and kind human being who made all who knew him feel special and blessed to be his friend."
"Shreyas was extremely talented and excelled in many domains including music, history, fitness, medicine, surgery," they continued. "Shreyas was always positive and infused his friends with his eclectic insight and his electric presence as he socially would light up any event with his comic spontaneity. He was highly respected by all."
"One of the kindest, funniest, and most caring people I've ever met lost his life today and it's devastating," another friend wrote late Sunday night.
Around 4 a.m. on Sunday, a friend called 911 and said the 38 year old had fallen down a cliff about 30 feet into a ravine, according to police.
Roy hailed from Syracuse, New York and studied medicine in Montreal at McGill University, graduating in 2006, according to friends.
He was a fellow in pediatric surgery at the Cote-des-Neiges hospital.
