Water levels by the shores of Montreal-area rivers and lakes are slowly going down - monitoring of the Mille-Îles river has stopped and the minor flooding status in the Lac St-Louis area has now been downgraded to surveillance. There is still a minor flooding status for areas near the St. Lawrence River.
Public security officials say no homes have been flooded since water levels have been rising - they report only one homeowner in the Beauharnois region had flooding on his land.
Officials say increased water levels in the Montreal region have only been reported days after the rain because it takes about a week for the rainwaters to collect and make their way down. It should take about the same time for the levels to go down, barring any more rain.
