Montreal is a world-class city and is the perfect venue to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Those words from Heritage minister Melanie Joly.
She adds Montreal is a thriving world-class city, that the huge event is the perfect occasion to attract the entire world to Canada and Montreal.
"She says the event would have a positive cultural and economic effect on the city. It's part of a continent-wide bid, so Canada, Mexico and the United States. Today, Montreal was named one of the 3 Canadian city candidates joining Toronto and Edmonton. The total number of candidate cities will go down to 16 in mid 2020", reported CTV's Amanda Kline.
A decision on which city will be home to the 2026 tournament is expected June 13th.
