A Halloween house of horror that drew 5,000 visitors last month is being blasted for mounting scenes depicting sexual violence - after accepting a federal government grant.
La Presse columnist Michele Ouimet took a hidden camera into the Malefycia haunted house in the Peel Basin. After signing the required waiver acknowledging that the scenes were explicit and meant only for adults, she filmed some of the racy and violent scenes.
In one, an actor hit an actress portraying a pregnant woman. In another scene, a provocatively dressed actor manhandled female visitors in a simulated assault.
Ouimet is incensed that the attraction received a $45,000 grant from Heritage Canada plus logistical help from the Montreal's South West borough.
