The Montreal Canadiens acquired defenceman Mike Reilly from the Minnesota Wild on Monday and sent defenceman Joe Morrow to the Winnipeg Jets.
Minnesota receives a 2019 fifth-round pick for Reilly. Montreal received a 2018 fourth-round pick from Winnipeg.
The Canadiens announced both deals just after the 3 p.m. ET trade deadline.
Reilly, 24, has played 84 NHL games since debuting with the Wild in 2015-16. He has two goals and 10 points in 38 games this season.
The Chicago native was drafted in the fourth round, No. 98 overall, by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2011.
Morrow, 25, has five goals, six assists and 26 penalty minutes in 38 games for Montreal this season.
The Habs' biggest deal as the trade deadline approached came on Sunday, when veteran Tomas Plekanec was dealt to the Leafs in exchange for two prospects and a second-round pick in 2018.
In other major deadline day deals Monday, Evander Kane was sent by the Sabres to San Jose, Paul Stastny was dealt to Winnipeg, and the Lightning and Rangers completed a blockbuster. Defenceman Ryan McDonagh was sent to Tampa in a five-player deal that also saw the Rangers collect the Lightning's first-round pick this year, and a conditional second-round pick.
Elsewhere, forward Tomas Tatar was sent from Detroit to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for draft picks, former Hab Thomas Vanek was sent to Columbus, and the Islanders sent forward Jason Chimera to Anaheim.
