MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens acquired Jonathan Racine from the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Tim Bozon on Saturday.
Racine, a 23-year-old Montrealer, will report to Montreal's AHL farm team in St. John's.
Racine was a third-round pick of the Panthers in the 2011 NHL draft. He played a game with the South Paws in 2013-2014.
Last season, he had a goal, nine points and 89 penalty minutes in 69 games with the Portland Pirates in the AHL.
The Habs begin the NHL regular season on Thursday, taking on the Sabres in Buffalo.
