Quebec government lawyers and notaries will gather next Tuesday to hold a strike vote.
They work at various levels throughout the Quebec civil service as well as Revenu Québec, Investissement Québec and L’Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), the Quebec securities regulator.
Their last contract expired in March of 2015.
The lawyers and notaries association is seeking to send future contract talks to binding arbitration as is in place for government lawyers in Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba and Nova Scotia.
The association has 1100 members.
In a statement this morning it claims that should a strike be approved it would result in the suspension of all work on draft laws and regulations, legal advice and government representation in court until a contract is approved.
