Mother Nature's about to show her nasty side again.
The winter storm warning for Montreal and area means at least 20 centimeters of snow by about midday Saturday, but not before freezing rain and ice pellets, according to Environment Canada.
The weather office said it may even go as high as 30 centimeters with gusty winds, up to 40, causing blowing snow for overnight Friday and creating wind chills around minus 20 to minus 25.
Forecasters also said Saturday's snowfall will be heavy at times.
The storm will follow record mild temperatures on Friday when the high reached 10 degrees.
The change in condition translates into a huge temperature drop.
"The temperature will continue to tumble to Sunday morning when it will be something like minus 23, that's the actual temperature . That will be a drop of temperature of almost 33 degrees in 36 hours", said Environment Canada senior climatologist David Phillips.
"It's one of these stay indoor-type of situations", added Phillips.
Sunshine is forecast for Sunday with "crisp and cold" temperatures.
The high that day will be roughly 11 degrees colder than it should be this time of year.
More snow is expected Monday into Tuesday.
