Frustrated and worried about their future, half of Quebec's young Anglophones say relations with Francophones are still based in conflict and they want to leave the province.
A new Léger poll conducted for the Journal de Montréal after the "Bonjour / Hi" debate and Adidas-Gate last fall shows a deep frustration in the English-speaking community.
Many young people in recent weeks don't feel they have a future in Quebec and are thinking of leaving; a bit like saying "Au revoir / goodbye."
Of the anglophones surveyed...when all ages are combined...they want more bilingual signs and to be welcomed in retail stores and other businesses in BOTH languages.
As for law 101? Anglos say it's time to soften it because the French language is no longer threatened as it was 40 years ago.
A third of all Anglophones believe relations between Francophones and Anglos are based in conflict, but that number jumps to nearly fifty percent of young people aged 18 to 35 and a third of young anglos think that relations will only continue to deteriorate.
