If you feel you need some legal advice and don't know where to go, this may be for you.
Legal aid clinic Juripop is offering free legal clinics every Monday all this month for the fourth year in a row.
Juripop has been holding its annual free legal clinics at the Berri-UQAM metro to make it as accessible as possible, said lawyer and executive director Sophie Gagnon.
"It's really diverse. People can come for questions regarding their rent, issues with their employer, if they got tickets that they want to challenge," Gagnon told CJAD 800 News.
Over 30 notaries, lawyers and law students will give 15 minute consultations and if that isn't enough, they can direct you to other services, some of which are free.
"For example, people who lose their jobs, there's Mouvement Action Chômage who can represent them for free, it's another example," said Gagnon.
Juripop may also be able to help you more in depth.
"We help people who are excluded from legal aid either either because they earn too much money - that is, one cent above minimum wage - or because they own property or they have RRSPs that are too high," said Gagnon.
A special clinic on sexual assault cases takes place February 28.
Juripop has been dealing with over 100 such cases since the fall and the #MeToo Movement. They can be sensitive issues but Gagnon said it's a case-by-case basis.
"Some people, they come to a lawyer but in reality what they need is advice from a psychologist or a social worker so a big part of the job we're doing is to direct people to the appropriate resource," said Gagnon.
The clinics are held every Monday this month between noon and 6 p.m. at the Berri-UQAM metro.
