Gatineau-based Francophone rights organization, Impératif Français, is reviving its campaign, "My Christmas shopping in French."
Jean-Paul Perreault, President of Impératif Français, is calling on consumers to encourage businesses to "serve, inform, and offer all their products in French.
Perreault called the right to shop in French in Quebec a "fundamental right."
He is also urging Quebecers to only shop at businesses who are receptive to the idea, display French language in their store front, have a French name, and are willing to provide services in French to those who request it.
Perreault noted the campaign is already making progress.
On its website, Impératif Français describes itself as a cultural organization of research and communication dedicated to the promotion of the French language, the French-speaking culture, and Francophonies.
