For the months following this past summer's Formula E event former Mayor Denis Coderre had said the information on number of tickets sold was not available, but it now one man says it was.
Sylvain Vincent, President of Montréal c'est électrique! (MCE) - the group mandated by the city to organize the race - told the Journal de Montreal/TVA it was the Mayor's office that decided to keep the final numbers a secret.
Vincent said in the days following the race weekend, he, Mayor Denis Coderre and Evenko CEO Jacques Aubé had a meeting where Evenko recommended not publishing the number of tickets given away for free for business reasons.
Officials at City Hall agreed.
Vincent said that had the former Mayor ever asked his group would have made the ticket data public.
The number of tickets sold and given was finally released just a couple of days before the municipal election on November 5.
The MCE President also spoke of the race location, saying new Mayor Valerie Plante can move the location of the track to where ever she wants, including the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
Vincent said despite what may be in the contract, Formula E officials are open for discussion and ultimately it's the Mayor who decides what to do with the race.
