The Sureté du Quebec said one of its former officers was murdered over the weekend.
On Sunday the body of 64-year-old Norbert Fortin was found by family members in his home Sainte Hedwidge de Roberval.
Fortin lived alone.
On Monday provincial police investigators announced they are treating the death as a homicide.
Crime scene technicians were sent to Fortin's home in order to find any and all clues that can help shine some light on the events that led to his death.
