Ronald Wineberg, the disgraced founder of the Cinar production company, has made parole.
Weinberg ended up serving a year and-a-half of a nine-year prison term, for his role in a $120 million dollar scam that defrauded thousands of people, many of whom lost their life savings.
The Journal de Montreal says Weinberg was described at the parole board hearing as lacking empathy for his victims and refusing to take part in rehabilitation programs.
But despite that, the board says there is little risk that Weinberg will become a repeat offender.
Weingberg will now live in a half way house, and has been ordered to perform two days of community service a week and has been prohibited from offering investment or personal financial management services.
