Risk of flooding remains high along many lakes and riverbanks around Quebec, and Hydro-Meteo says teams are on high alert.
“Very high levels of water” were observed along the St. Lawrence River in the Montreal area, as well as on the Outaouais, Mille Iles and Prairies rivers and the Lake of Two Mountains, said Hydro-Meteo director Pierre Corbin.
There has been minor flooding along Lake of Two Mountains, as well as the St. Lawrence River, according to the Quebec Ministry of Public Safety.
There has also been significant flooding reported in Rawdon, where Route 341 was closed after parts of the street collapsed into the river. Some nearby homes were evacuated, but authorities expect to have the flooding under control by Monday night.
Hydro Meteo spokesperson Fanny Payette told CJAD that they were also concerned about more rain hitting the South Shore, and putting homes in that region at risk in the coming days.
Meanwhile the city of Laval is offering residents sandbags to help control any potential flooding. On the West Island, parts of Pierrefonds - Roxborro at risk of flooding include residents living near Rue Charlebois, Boulevard Lalande, and West of the Pierrefonds water treatment plant.
