Authorities in Terrebonne are on alert for localized flooding from the Mille-Iles River.
Civil security put an amphibious excavator on the water near the west side of Île Saint-Jean Sunday morning because of rising water levels caused by ice jams.
The City of Terrebonne has also closed the pedestrian tunnel under Highway 25 and has placed the shoreline community of Bellerive on stand-by.
In a statement released Sunday, officials say no flooding has been reported, but given the forecast is calling for continuing low temperatures , the decision was made to act "preemptively".
