If you've ever spent hours sitting and waiting in a hospital emergency room, then this might come as welcome news.
The Quebec government opened its first so-called 'super-clinic' in St. Laurent on Friday — the Plein Ciel clinic on Cote Vertu Blvd.
It will be staffed by family doctors and will be open 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
Health minister Gaetan Barrette announced that his government would open as many as 50 clinics with two years, which would cater to walk-in patients.
Aside from a complement of family doctors and specialized nurses, the Plein Ciel has a radiology and ultrasound imaging department.
Barrette said his ministry is accepting applications from other clinics to be designated as super clinics, but it will depend in part on where they are located.
"We want to have those clinics geographically well-distributed. It cannot be here and across the street when three miles five kilometres away they will have nothing," said Barrette.
