Did you dream of a white Christmas? It seems Mother Nature didn't get the memo.
Montreal has experienced its first green Christmas since 2015.
"There used to be an 85 per cent of a chance for a white Christmas, you didn't have to do too much dreaming. Nowadays, it's 70 per cent," said Environment Canada senior climatologist David Phillips.
A white Christmas requires there to be at least two centimeters of snow on the ground by 7 a.m. on Christmas morning.
For it to be a "perfect" Christmas, there must be at least two centimeters of snow on the ground, and more than one centimetre of falling snow during the day.
"The last two, (Christmases), were white, and the two previous to that, 2014 and 2015, were green," said Phillips.
Between 1955 and 2017, Montrealers have seen 15 Green Christmases.
But, there is an upside Phillips explained, "people can come and visit you and leave properly. That irritating brother-in-law doesn't have to stay over because of a storm, (because) hey, there's no storm."
