A man has died in hospital after fire tore through his apartment building in Roxboro on Monday afternoon.
Fire broke out in an apartment located in at a triplex on 4th Ave. N. at around 1:15 p.m. When firefighters got there, they saw flames coming out of the basement of the building and smoke spreading to the upper floors.
Firefighters found the man in a second-floor apartment. He had apparently gone into cardiac arrest. Ambulance workers tried reviving him on the way to the hospital, but he died shortly after his arrival.
No one else was hurt. Damages are estimated at around $200,000.
Investigators have just started working to establish what caused the blaze.
