There's word that the salary settlement Quebec's family doctors begin voting on today amounts to a 10% pay hike over three years.
La Presse reports that there also lump sum payments involved, totalling about $40-thousand per general practitioner.
The 10% hike may sound high compared with what other government workers are receiving. However, most of it was promised in a previous settlement but implementation was delayed during the Couillard government's austerity push. The new money amounts to under 1% per year, slightly below the inflation rate.
The family doctors have until September 27 to take part in the on-line contract ratification vote.
