New lighting, new flooring, a new food court - there are $30-million worth of changes coming to the Fairview shopping centre in Pointe Claire.
The Gazette reports that the mall is getting a facelift as owner Cadillac Fairview also plans a big residential development next door in conjunction with Ivanhoe Cambridge. That $60-million project will feature townhouses, condos, office space, and hotels, with a construction timeline of at least ten years.
The renovations inside Fairview involve moving the food court to one of the three floors previously occupied by the old Sears outlet. A Simons store will occupy the other two floors. The old food court will be replaced by more retail space.
Cadillac Fairview says the renovations will be completed by mid-2020, with no disruptions for shoppers.
Meantime, Les Jardins Dorval shopping centre on Dorval Avenue at Highway 20 has a new owner, also with development plans.
The North America Development Group isn't releasing any details, but Dorval Mayor Edgar Rouleau tells The Gazette that he'd like to see mixed residential and commercial space added.
Rouleau notes that the property is already zoned for that kind of development.
