Several reports are suggesting former Parti Québécois leader André Boisclair was arrested early Thursday morning for suspected drunk driving in Quebec City.
Quebec City police aren't releasing the name of the person they arrested just after midnight on Thursday after a car struck a lamppost.
They are saying a 51-year-old man is due to make a court appearance later in the day after refusing a breathalyzer test, and being intimidating towards officers.
Boisclair was first elected to the National Assembly as a 23-year-old in 1989. He was named PQ leader in 2005, and served until the 2007 election, when he led the party to a third-place finish.
In 2014, Boisclair was named a special advisor to then-Quebec Environment minister David Huertel.
