A former mayor of Montreal North was sentenced to 6 months in jail last month.
Now, he's out.
Gilles Deguire, a former police officer, has been released after serving only one sixth of his sentence.
He pleaded guilty to sexually touching a minor.
A charge of sexual assault against Deguire, who's in his mid 60's, was stayed when he pleaded guilty last December.
Often times first-time offenders are only required to serve a sixth of their sentences.
The charges cover a two-year period when the victim was between 13 and 15-years old.
