Outgoing United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will be pulling the lever to drop the midnight ball.
Montreal police will beef up security for New Year's Eve celebrations.
Concrete barriers will be installed in the Old Port and additional patrols will be in place.
Increased security is the case not only for the Old Port, but also in Lachine and Anjou where New Year's Eve celebrations are planned.
