Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin was referred to as a 'Disaster Artist' in an ESPN.com ranking of the NHL's 31 general managers.
He shared that unfortunate distinction with Peter Chiarelli, the general manager of the perpetually disappointing Edmonton Oilers.
At the top of the heap — where people like Frank Selke and Sam Pollock used to be — are the Leafs' Lou Lamoriello, the Penguins' Jim Rutherford, and the Tampa Bay Lightning's Steve Yzerman, who the website referred to as 'The Golden Boys'.
The website notes, however, that "all it takes is one great move or one great season, and perceptions can change on a dime." Bergevin's salvation, according to ESPN, might happen if he signs soon-to-be free agent, and current Islanders' captain John Tavares — the "big centre" the Canadiens have been pining for since Peter Mahovlich retired.
