The embattled chair of the Lester B. Pearson school board admits she's made mistakes, but won't listen to her critics and resign.
Suanne Stein Day spoke at a public school board meeting Monday night after the board's ethics commisioner found she violated the ethics code three times.
A former board employee told CTV she was fired after criticizing Stein Day.
"She did say no one was fired because of her or dismissed, or demoted, and that while she did not agree with all of the conclusions, the ethics commission report was formal and binding and so she accepts it. She is saying that, yes, she respects it and that she did make mistakes and that she has apologized for them", said CTV's Caroline Van Vlaardigen, who was at the meeting.
Stein Day, however, was never punished.
Carol Mastantuono, former director of the board's international program, said she wrote a letter to the board a year ago complaining about Stein Day's behaviour, outlining bullying as well as harassment concerns.
Mastantuono is now challenging her dismissal.
Stein Day's critics have wanted to the Education ministry to intervene in the matter.
According to Stein Day, there've been calls from the ministry, that it's aware of what's going on.
