With 18 days left until Montrealers head to the polls, it was the third big name mayoral candidate making headlines on Tuesday.
A source told CJAD 800 that Jean Fortier would be dropping out of the race to be mayor and would instead throw his support behind Valerie Plante.
A Projet Montreal aide said an official announcement would be made Wednesday.
However, Coalition Montreal's interim leader Marvin Rotrand told CTV Montreal there is 'no deal' between his candidate and Projet Montreal, and that the rival party is 'spinning.'

Denis Coderre was quiet Tuesday, instead letting a big named Montreal businessman speak for him.
Mitch Garber, chair of Cirque du Soleil's board of directors told the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal he fully supports Coderre.
During an address he said he believes that over the past four years Coderre has done a terrific job and brought positive international attention to the city.
