Quebec's election isn't for another two and a half months, but there are already some campaign-style posters cropping up in Montreal.
They're not official posters from the various political parties, but they do carry a specific campaign message — that both premier Philippe Couillard's Liberals and François Legault's CAQ are more or less one and the same.
The posters, which come from the Quebec branch of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, feature Couillard's and Legault's faces, side-by-side, made to look like two halves of the same person, with the slogan, "Election 2018, we deserve better".
The union group's director, Marc Ranger, says the object is simple.
"To prevent another four years of bad government," he said. "For us, the party who says they represent change is not a real change. This is something we want to emphasize. If you're for the CAQ or for the Liberals, they're the same.
The union isn't formally endorsing any of the other parties — just urging Quebecers to vote for anyone other than the CAQ or Liberals on Oct. 1.
Ranger also promises organized labor will make make their presence felt during the course of the upcoming campaign.
