A conference organized by a McGill University group could not have better timing.
Edward Snowden, the former NSA contractor who leaked documents in 2013 that revealed some of the agency's monitoring activities, will be speaking via videoconference about surveillance in Canada.
The infamous whistleblower has not shied away from discussing issues involving Canadians.
Two weeks during a similar discussion in Toronto, Snowden criticized Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for not following through on a campaign promise to repeal Canada's anti-terror law. He said Trudeau was reluctant to press on out of fear of appearing too soft on terrorism.
Earlier this week Snowden tweeted about the Patrick Lagacé spy case.
The talk will take place tonight, at 7:00 P.M. in Leacock 132, McGill University, 855 Sherbrooke West. Organizers Media@McGill say seats cannot be reserved and they will be available on a first come first served basis.
The event is free and open to the public. Anyone wishing to take part in the discussion can Tweet questions to #SnowdenMcGill
