Saturday is Earth Day, and several activities are taking place across Montreal.
Thousands of trees are being planted at the Longue-Pointe Garrison on Notre-Dame Street East. Montreal mayor Denis Coderre is among those in attendance.
Pointe-Claire will distribute free trees to its residents, as well as rain barrels, compost and wood chips until 4:00 Saturday afternoon.
Several municipal boroughs are also hosting activities, including Lachine, Ahuntsic, Villeray and Park Extension. A full list can be found online.
Many of this year's events are being held in conjunction with the city of Montreal's 375th anniversary.
