A couple of Quebecers doing time for drug trafficking are accused of running a fentanyl smuggling operation from their jail cells.
Jason Berry and Daniel Vivas Ceron are serving time at the medium security penitentiary at Drummondville.
The Journal de Montreal says the accusation of fentanyl smuggling comes from the U.S., where investigators are alleging that Berry and Ceron orchestrated shipments of the drug from China to North America, cooking up the deals on the darkweb using a contraband smartphone.
Four other Quebecers are accused of being in on it, along with three Americans and two Chinese nationals.
The investigators say the fentanyl they sent into Canada and the U.S. caused four overdose deaths.
