40 kilometres of busy Montreal streets will be under photo radar surveillance.
Beginning Monday, the downtown area will see 3 more mobile photo radar units.
"The 3 new devices could be set up on Sherbrooke East, PIE-IX, Saint Michel, Christophe-Coulombe or René Lévesque East. Police say the areas chosen are prime locations for reckless driving", said CTV reporter Amanda Kline.
The city will also be placing photo radar cameras near several schools, including St. Laurent high school in St. Laurent and and Lucien Pagé high school in Park Extension.
Montreal police have acquired one new van equipped with photo radar, along with two photo radar devices installed on trailers.
Police will determine where to install the photo radar devices each day among the four schools and several kilometres of city streets.
Authorities add warning signs will be posted whenever photo radar is active in a particular area.
