The third opposition party at Montreal city hall says they have an option for you if you don't want to vote for either current mayor Denis Coderre or Projet Montreal leader Valérie Plante.
Coalition Montreal has fielded Jean Fortier to be their mayoralty candiate. Fortier served as chairman of the committee chairman under ex-mayor Pierre Bourque between 1998 and 2001.
Coalition Montreal said they're a party that is neither to the right nor the left and that believes in more powers for elected councillors based on a more democratic model which does not aim at imitating the National Assembly or the Parliament in Ottawa.
Fortier said he has plans to improve the efficiency of city hall and to give better services and "maybe at lower cost."
Rotrand said they believe Fortier is the alternative voters are looking for.
"They're telling us they do not have confidence in Mayor Coderre," said party leader Marvin Rotrand.
"They're telling us they don't have anyone to vote for. They don't feel comfortable with Valérie Plante. I admire her courage, I admire her energy but our voters are telling us the program they put forward is too extreme for them."
Coalition Montreal said they'll present a more detailed party platform in the run-up to the November 5 municipal elections.
