Crews started tearing down the eastbound portion of the Ville-Marie expressway just before Christmas. Four months later, they're done.
The three-kilometre stretch of elevated road, which had been standing since the 1960s and which necessitated several weekend road closures, came down completely this past weekend.
The government says they'll now start building two new lanes on the 136 east, so by the end of this year, there should be four full lanes on the highway leading to the Ville-Marie tunnel.
The other side of the Ville-Marie and the 136 west should be complete by 2020.
