A Dollard-des-Ormeaux man is angry with Gaz Met after the natural gas utility dumped tons of earth and rocks on his property without asking while doing work next door.
Imagine Philippe Bégin's surprise to find mounds of rocks and earth on his perfectly manicured lawn earlier this week, the result of Gaz Met's excavations at his neighbour's place and with no notice from the company.
"You just don't behave like this, you don't go ruin someone's property, you sit it down on someone's lawn and not ask for it," sad Bégin in an interview with CJAD 800 News.
It took some emails and two days for the mess to disappear but not without damaging Begin's lawn.
Gaz Met told CJAD 800 News that they usually don't dig in such residential projects and there was nowhere else to put the dirt and rocks: the neighbour's lawn had trees and they couldn't block the road. The company also said they had a brief discussion with Bégin's wife, taking that as approval.
Gaz met said they will be back to fix up Bégin's lawn but he says that's not the point.
"Don't just assume because you're big and rich you're just allowed to break stuff, and I'll just pay you back because I got money. I just expect simple courtesy and respect," said Bégin.
