On the third day of CJAD 800's Amazing Construction Race, our trio of intrepid reporters tried to make it from the corner of Sherbrooke and Westminster in Montreal West to our offices on Papineau and René-Lévesque.
And for the first time this week, a car didn't make it in first.
The street corner is a few steps away from the Montreal West train station — and as a result, it took Shuyee Lee just 38 minutes to take the train to the Lucien L'Allier station before switching to the metro.
"It was pretty fast," she said, "much more pleasant that the bus was on Monday."
Andrew Brennan, in a car, managed to make it a few minutes later, despite lane closures on Highway 20.
And once again, the reporter taking the bus came in last. Eramelinda Boquer took the 105 bus its entire route to Vendome metro station before hopping onto the metro for what is typically a 20-minute ride during rush hour — give or take a few minutes.
And as she had all week, she had to deal with crowds — particularly on the 105, which typically gets very crowded during rush hours on the approach to Vendome. And making matters worse is the sheer volume of traffic in the neighborhood, which also contains the MUHC's Glen hospital.
"Traffic on Sherbrooke is incredibly slow, too," she told CJAD's Andrew Carter this morning. "We're just crawling".
