There's a report this morning that during the Harper era, cabinet ministers and their staffers were told to observe cellphone silence throughout downtown Ottawa - because Canada's spy agency figured eavesdropping was likely.
La Presse is quoting sources who say there were standing orders then to avoid cellphone conversations about sensitive topics and the same directive is in place today.
To boot, cellphones were banned from the room during meetings where issues of national security were being discussed.
The report follows revelations by Radio Canada that the area around Parliament Hill is riddled with eavesdropping devices.
