A Crown lawyer has been suspended for a month after she complained about a lack of resources in her department.
Geneviève Dagenais has been sanctioned over a letter she wrote in July to her boss and the judge in a murder case she is handling.
Dagenais was upset about the difficulty she was having in getting a forensic psychiatrist assigned to the case and was critical of the delay.
She has now been relived of her duties, but the Criminal and Penal Prosecutors' Association plans an appeal.
The president of the association Jean Campeau says the penalty is excessive and suspensions are usually given for more serious offences such as gross negligence.
The case, involving a man accused of murdering his wife in front of their children, is scheduled to proceed with another lawyer.
