Canada's airport security agency is flagging a spectacular jump in the number of illegal weapons seized from passengers - and the biggest jump is at Trudeau Airport in Dorval.
La Presse has obtained documents showing ore than 1,132 illicit weapons were taken away from passengers in the past year, an increase of more than 250% from the year before. And at Trudeau Airport, the jump was even higher, nearly 500%
Much of the increase was in credit card knives, which started gaining popularity through online sales in 2016. These are small blades concealed in a holder shaped like a credit card. More than 650 of them were seized nationwide at airports.
Nunchaku and ninja throwing stars were also found in the possession of passengers.
