The Jewish General Hospital is temporarily suspending charges for in-room telephone service for patients.
The move comes after CJAD 800 advised the hospital about a complaint form a listener who had to pay the $3 daily charge to have a phone in her mother's hospital room.
"In order to help our patients connect with their family members and friends as visits have been cancelled under these exceptional circumstances, the Jewish General Hospital is waiving all fees for the use of telephones in patient rooms as of today - Wednesday, March 18th," said the hospital in a statement.
The Quebec government banned visits to hospitals and seniors' homes Sunday as they deal with the coronavirus crisis.
