About 4,500 Société de transport de Montréal (STM) employees could be going on strike soon.
According to TVA, the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1983 has called its members to a general meeting on May 3 where a strike vote will be held.
The workers have been without a collective agreement since January.
A spokesperson for the union tells the news agency its members include bus drivers, metro operators and other service employees related to transportation and are responsible for helping one million people get around the City of Montreal every day.
The union said scheduling and overall planning are at the heart of the current stalemate.
The 4,500 employees are subject to legislation that requires them to maintain essential services.
