Construction work on a new underground garage for the Orange metro line will force the closure of the Côte-Vertu station this weekend.
Crews will be replacing electrical cables between the station and tracks. To ensure passenger safety the STM will shut down the station March 30 and 31.
A second closure is planned for April 13 and 14. However, if the work is more complex than crews are anticipating the station will closed for the weekend in-between, April 6 and 7.
During the closure the du Collège station will become the temporary terminus for the Orange. A shuttle bus service will be set up between the Côte-Vertu and Du Collège stations. The 64 Grenet and 470 Express Pierrefonds bus lines will also take passengers to Du Collège station.
The STM says by adding the underground garage it will be able to increase passenger capacity by adding more trains on the Orange line, ultimately improving the frequency of service during peak periods.
