A LaSalle man who was convicted last month of stabbing his wife to death because he feared she would leave him has filed an appeal for a new trial.
The Journal de Montreal reports that 53-year old Ahmad Nehme claims that the judge in his case made several errors in law, depriving him of his constitutional rights to a full and fair trial.
Nehme was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his wife Catherine de Boucherville who died after being attacked at their home in July of 2012.
He had pleaded not guilty because of his mental state at the time and is currently serving a term of life in prison with no possibility of parole for 25 years.
