A public opinion poll conducted for Le Devoir by Léger Marketing shows the Conservatives are gradually closing the gap with the governing Liberals under Justin Trudeau.
The online poll was conducted last week and it suggests Liberal support nationally is down 2% from October to 40% while Conservative support climbed 4% to 34%.
The NDP, despite electing a new leader, Jagmeet Singh, October 1 is far back with 13% support, compared to 15% in the October survey.
Leger president Jean-Marc Léger, says the results are a disaster for the NDP while also indicating a return to the familiar political dynamic of the Liberals being strong in the East , while the Conservatives are favoured in western Canada.
