Mayor Denis Coderre and mayoralty challenger Valerie Plante are set to face off in a debate on the evening of Oct. 19.
It'll take place — in French — at the downtown Sheraton Centre, and will be moderated by La Presse's chief editorialist François Cardinal.
It's the first news of the two main candidates for the mayoralty agreeing to debate one another. It's not clear if there will be any other ones, or if there will be any debates in English.
Jean Fortier, who announced his candidacy last week under the Coalition Montreal banner, won't be taking part in the debate.
It's being organized by the Montreal Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
