On March 17th, Verdun resident Brian Durrant got home from a bit of shopping and found a parking ticket in his mailbox. The trouble is he doesn't own a vehicle of any kind.
Durrant went to Verdun's borough hall to try to contest the ticket, or simply have it squashed by getting it removed from the system. He explained his "no car" situation and the woman at the counter understood — but then Durrant was told he can't contest the ticket because it's not for him.
"I don't know what to do," he said, laughing. "Send it off in the mail or go back to her in person...again."
He returned to the borough's main offices on Monday, with CJAD 800 reporter Shawn Dearn in tow.
At first, it looked like Durrant was going to get the same answer as last time. However, after the reporter urged the clerk to check the plate number in their system, it turned out the ticket should actually be going to someone named Serge, who owns a Saturn ION.
Durrant laughed about the whole thing afterwards, saying, "I'm just glad I don't have to worry about receiving an even bigger ticket in the mail later."
